This is a senior Systems Engineer role where you will shape and secure a complex hybrid environment that directly supports a growing regional community. Working closely with digital leadership and stakeholders across public sector, you will design, deliver, and optimise cloud and on-prem services, lead major incident response, and drive a culture of safety, accountability, and customer centricity while helping to deliver the organisation’s long-term vision.
About the Role
In this role, you will be the technical lead for hybrid cloud and internal infrastructure services across the organisation.
- Design, deliver, and manage solutions across a hybrid environment, ensuring availability and performance
- Lead major incident responses, stakeholder communication, and post-incident reviews for critical services
- Provide expert guidance on changes, incidents, storage, networks, security, and lifecycle management
- Shape and advise on core infrastructure architecture, cloud services, and security controls across platforms
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery processes and testing regimes for cloud and internal environments
- Manage project elements across the lifecycle, partnering with leaders to embed customer-centric service delivery
About You
You are a seasoned Systems Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder and leadership skills.
- Expert skills across Microsoft stack, Azure, O365, virtualisation (VMware/Hyper-V), networking, and security
- Proven experience with scripting (PowerShell, IaC), data protection, and hybrid integrations across cloud and on-prem
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with complex, competing priorities
- Strong communication, consultation, and influencing skills, with a track record of building robust relationships
- Visible safety leadership mindset, ITIL/service management knowledge, and a current QLD C Class driver licence
