- Rare opportunity to shape future development strategy for one of Australia’s most iconic precincts
- Opportunity to influence world-class visitor experience
- 3 year fixed term contract
Located in the heart of Melbourne – a city known around the world for its epic sports and entertainment culture – Melbourne Park is Australia’s live events epicentre. Home to nine elite national sporting teams, six iconic venues, and the world’s biggest grand slam, Melbourne Park brings millions of people together to share experiences, make lifelong memories and be part of something bigger. The Victorian Government’s recent near-$1 billion redevelopment was completed to support Melbourne Park’s growing popularity, securing its legacy as a drawcard destination for sport and entertainment fans, and laying the foundations for a bright future at the leading edge of live event experiences.
Reporting to Director of Precinct Development, as the Head of Precinct Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term future of Melbourne Park by leading the development of a refreshed precinct development plan and a clear, forward-looking spatial and investment framework.
In this role you will:
- Drive the strategic planning, investment, and business case development for major Melbourne Park precinct development initiatives, ensuring that future development is underpinned by robust economic, social and operational analysis aligned with government priorities and Melbourne Park’s long-term vision.
- Integrate economic, social, and environmental priorities into precinct planning, ensuring all future development is visionary, commercially sound, and grounded in community benefit. This will include economic impact assessments, demand modelling and cost-benefit analyses that underpin major precinct investments.
- A key advisor to the Executive Team and Government partners, you will provide expert insight into precinct opportunities, risks, and investment pathways while maintaining strong alignment with State Government policy frameworks and Melbourne Park’s risk and governance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Sport and Recreation Victoria, Development Victoria, and key precinct partners to refine investment narratives and secure project endorsement and strengthen Melbourne Park’s reputation as a global leader in precinct planning.
To be successful in this role, you will bring leadership experience in precinct strategy and development across planning, infrastructure development and commercial advisory.
You will bring experience across:
- Multi-disciplinary precinct planning within major precincts, major events, tourism or public infrastructure services - an understanding of Victorian Government processes would be highly regarded.
- Developing business cases and feasibility studies to support future investment development strategy, including engagement with key stakeholders to inform decision making and investment frameworks.
- Analytical thinking, commercial acumen, leading agile operating environments and the ability to bring stakeholders along on the journey. Formal qualifications in Economics, Urban Planning or Business will be required.
As Head of Precinct Strategy, this is a unique opportunity to lead the development of one of Australia’s most iconic precincts and be part of a team that is passionate, forward-thinking and genuinely invested in ensuring world-class visitor experiences, and delivery frameworks that inform the evolution of the precinct and position Melbourne Park as Victoria’s pre-eminent live entertainment and sporting destination.
