About the Role

This newly created role supports the build and construction of a major power infrastructure project. As the Cost Controller, you will provide financial accuracy and governance through disciplined cost management and forecasting. The position is well suited to someone who brings a strong finance or accounting foundation along with hands-on experience in project cost control.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing end-to-end cost control processes including accurate forecasting, tracking and reporting of project costs.
  • Monitoring performance, analysing variances and providing insights that support informed project decisions.
  • Preparing and maintaining project budgets, cost reports and cashflow forecasts aligned to milestone payment schedules.
  • Managing change control processes and communicating cost and schedule impacts clearly.
  • Preparing EACs, monthly accruals and supporting month end financial reporting.
  • Raising purchase orders, processing variations and assisting with project change orders and claims.
  • Supporting contract administration activities relating to cost and billing.
  • Building effective working relationships with the owner’s team, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

The role works closely with senior leaders including the CFO, Project Director, Corporate Development, Project Scheduler and various Package Owners. The organisation currently uses Pronto as its accounting system.

About You

You are an experienced Project Cost Controller with a solid finance or accounting background and a strong understanding of financial principles as they apply to major project environments. You bring:

  • A proven track record managing cost control across construction, engineering or large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical capability in forecasting, EACs, accruals and established cost management methodologies.
  • A sound foundation in finance or accounting that enables accurate reporting and financial integrity.
  • Confidence working with contract administration, commercial documentation and change control processes.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to identifying cost or schedule risks.
  • The ability to communicate clearly, collaborate effectively and build trust with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A practical, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced project setting.
