Backed by one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, VNI West will play a critical role in strengthening the national electricity grid while delivering meaningful economic, workforce and community outcomes across regional Victoria.
As the project continues to evolve, we are now seeking a Workforce Engagement Lead to help shape and deliver the project’s workforce participation and social value initiatives.
Working across industry, government, education providers and regional stakeholders, this role will play a key part in developing workforce pathways, supporting apprenticeships and training initiatives, and ensuring VNI West leaves a long-term legacy for local communities.
This is a unique opportunity to join a major infrastructure project at an early stage and help design meaningful workforce and social value programs that extend well beyond project delivery.
Based in Melbourne or regional Victoria, the role will involve regular engagement with regional stakeholders and project partners across the state.
About the Role
Reporting into the broader Stakeholder Engagement function, the Workforce Engagement Lead will support the development and implementation of workforce participation strategies aligned to government policy, social procurement obligations and Iberdrola’s global social value commitments.
You will work closely with contractors, industry bodies, training providers, government agencies and internal project teams to help develop employment pathways, apprenticeship opportunities and workforce capability initiatives linked to the project.
This role is ideally suited to someone who understands the intersection between major infrastructure delivery, workforce development and community outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the development and implementation of workforce engagement and social value initiatives across the VNI West project
- Building relationships with government agencies, training providers, industry groups and workforce stakeholders • Supporting apprenticeship, traineeship and employment pathway initiatives linked to project delivery
- Working with contractors and procurement teams to embed workforce participation outcomes into project planning
- Contributing to workforce planning activities, capability assessments and labour market engagement
- Partnering with regional stakeholders to identify opportunities for local employment and skills development
- Supporting reporting, analysis and monitoring of workforce and social value outcomes
- Assisting with workforce engagement forums, webinars, industry briefings and stakeholder events
- Collaborating across internal teams to support broader community and social procurement objectives
- Helping position VNI West as a project delivering long-term economic and workforce benefits for regional Victoria
What you’ll bring
- Experience in workforce engagement, employment programs, social procurement, stakeholder engagement or economic development
- Exposure to major infrastructure, energy, government or community-focused projects
- Strong relationship-building capability with government, industry and community stakeholders
- Understanding of workforce participation initiatives, apprenticeships, training pathways or social value frameworks
- Strong communication and engagement skills
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups in a collaborative and pragmatic way
- Experience preparing reports, briefings or program documentation
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach
