Reporting to the D&C Lead, the WHSE Lead will take ownership of health, safety and environmental performance across the VNI West Project. This role is critical to setting direction, providing visible leadership, and ensuring WHSE requirements are embedded across all phases of development and delivery.
This is a role for someone who knows how to operate in complex infrastructure environments: building trust with delivery teams and contractors, influencing outcomes, and driving a strong, proactive safety culture across a major project.
About the Role
- Leading the development and implementation of WHSE strategies, plans and systems across the project
- Providing expert WHSE advice to project leadership, delivery teams and contractors
- Ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and client WHSE requirements
- Driving risk identification, hazard management and safe systems of work across all work fronts
- Overseeing incident management, investigations, reporting and corrective actions
- Coordinating WHSE audits, inspections and assurance activities
- Building strong working relationships with contractors and key stakeholders to align on WHSE expectations
- Coaching teams and leaders, lifting WHSE capability and embedding a strong safety-first culture
- Monitoring WHSE performance, trends and emerging risks, and providing clear insights to leadership
About You
- Extensive WHSE leadership experience within major infrastructure, energy or construction projects
- Strong working knowledge of Australian WHSE legislation, standards and best practice
- Proven ability to influence, challenge and lead across contractor-heavy environments
- Experience establishing and embedding WHSE frameworks on large, complex projects
- Confidence engaging across multidisciplinary teams, from site through to executive level
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with a genuine commitment to safety, wellbeing and environmental outcomes
If you are a proven WHSE leader with experience on large-scale infrastructure projects, we’d love to hear from you. Experience on major transmission or renewable energy projects will be very highly regarded, but also important is your ability to lead by example, influence behaviours, and drive strong WHSE outcomes across a complex project environment.
