This one is about partnering with operational leaders, earning credibility with frontline crews and helping ensure every employee has the capability and confidence to perform safely.

Davidson is partnering with a well established Australian organisation operating within a highly specialised rail environment to appoint a Training Specialist supporting Western Australian operations.

Reporting to the Learning & Development Manager, you'll become the trusted training partner across WA, owning the region's operational training function while working closely with leaders and operators to build capability across the business.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being out on site, solving problems, coaching others and making a visible difference.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Delivering engaging operational training across WA sites
  • Conducting Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments
  • Coaching operational leaders and frontline employees
  • Supporting onboarding and ongoing workforce capability
  • Maintaining training compliance and competency standards
  • Building trusted relationships across operational teams
  • Driving continuous improvement across learning and development practices
  • Planning and coordinating regular travel to operational sites

What we're looking for
To be successful in this position you'll bring proven operational training experience together with a strong understanding of Australian rail environments.

The following are considered essential or highly desirable:

Essential

  • Minimum 18 months' Australian rail infrastructure, rolling stock or track machine operations experience
  • Demonstrated experience delivering operational training within high-risk or regulated environments
  • Ability to conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to coach frontline operational teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities
  • Willingness to undertake regular travel throughout Western Australia

Highly Desirable

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) (current)
  • Approximately 5 years' experience in a dedicated Training, Learning & Development or Competency role
  • Experience working with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), competency frameworks and training compliance
  • Experience developing learning materials, competency assessments or operational training programs

Mandatory Employment Requirements
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • Australian working rights
  • Current driver's licence
  • Ability to successfully complete an extensive rail pre-employment medical
  • Drug & alcohol screening
  • Capacity to undertake regular travel throughout WA operational sites
