About the Role

The AMI Test Lead is responsible for planning, developing, executing and documenting testing activities across United Energy’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) ecosystem.

The role supports the testing and quality assurance of AMI applications, smart grid technologies, communications networks, field devices and integrated business systems. This includes technologies associated with both current-generation AMI platforms and emerging AMI 2.0 solutions.

Working closely with project teams, vendors, operational stakeholders and business representatives, the role ensures that new technologies, upgrades, enhancements and operational changes are delivered with appropriate quality, reliability and compliance while minimising business risk.

The position combines functional testing, integration testing, device validation, meter data verification and test automation activities to support the successful delivery and operation of AMI and smart grid initiatives.

About You

Essential

  • Strong working experience with Quality Control (QC) reporting.
  • Strong understanding of AMI and Smart Grid technologies, including smart meters, communications networks, HES and related systems.
  • Familiarity with AMI vendor platforms and ecosystems such as Itron UIQ, Landis+Gyr Command Centre/Emerge, or equivalent AMI solutions.
  • Knowledge of software and systems testing methodologies, including test planning, execution, defect management and reporting.
  • Understanding of communication technologies and protocols including RF Mesh related network communications.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear test documentation and reports.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders, vendors and project teams.
