The Opportunity
Our client in the energy sector is seeking an experienced Test Lead to support the introduction of new smart meters.
This program involves the testing of new meters and their integration across internal Jemena systems through to market participants. This is a high-impact initiative within a regulated environment.
This is an initial 6-month daily rate contract, with strong potential for extension. This role requires 3 days per week in the Melbourne CBD office. Unfortunately, sponsorship is not available.
The Role
As a Test Lead, you will be responsible for leading the testing stream for the smart meter introduction program, ensuring end-to-end validation across device, network, internal systems, and market interfaces.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading SIT and end-to-end integration testing for new smart meters
- Overseeing integration testing across Jemena systems and external market participants
- Developing test strategies, test plans, and execution reporting
- Managing defect triage and coordination across vendors and internal teams
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and market requirements
- Providing clear risk reporting and stakeholder updates
- Driving structured test governance in a regulated distribution environment
About You
In order to be successful, you will bring proven experience leading testing within regulated energy or utilities environments, with strong exposure to metering programs.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated experience in smart meter or advanced metering testing
- Strong understanding of energy distribution systems and market integration
- Experience testing meter data flows through to billing and market systems
- Experience coordinating across vendors and market participants
- Strong stakeholder communication and reporting capability
- Experience working within structured test lifecycle methodologies (Waterfall or Hybrid delivery)
