Technical Business Analyst – Utilities Sector - Metering
Position Summary:
Long term day rate contract based in Melbourne CBD for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Business Analyst with proven experience in the Utilities sector (Water, Gas, Electricity).
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Itron solutions, particularly in system upgrades and integrations involving IEE/MTS and UIQ/SIQ platforms.
This role will be pivotal in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring successful delivery of system enhancements and operational improvements.
Hybrid working with 2-3 days in the office.
A very collaborative working environment where a focus on team engagement and communication is relied on.
You will excel in stakeholder engagement and look to engage those involved and tale them along on the journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to utility operations and system upgrades.
- Lead and support system upgrade projects involving Itron platforms (IEE/MTS, UIQ/SIQ), ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications for development and implementation teams.
- Conduct gap analysis, process mapping, and impact assessments for proposed changes.
- Work closely with IT teams, vendors, and business units to ensure alignment of solutions with strategic goals.
- Facilitate workshops, meetings, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Support testing, validation, and deployment activities for upgraded systems.
- Provide post-implementation support and training to end-users.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a senior Business Analyst withing the Utilities Sector utilities sector (Water, Gas, Electricity).
- An understanding of Itron systems, particularly IEE (Itron Enterprise Edition), MTS (Meter Data Management System), UIQ (User Interface for Quality), and SIQ (System Interface for Quality).
- Demonstrated experience in system upgrades, data migration, and integration projects.
- Proficiency in business Process Modeling BPMN, requirements gathering, and documentation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA) or Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Experience with other utility platforms or smart metering technologies.
