Located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, covering an area of around 53 square kilometres of land and encompassing the areas of Bundoora, Kingsbury and Macleod, Fairfield and Alphington, Northcote, Preston, Reservoir, Coburg and Thornbury. The city has one of the largest populations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents in metropolitan Melbourne and is home to one of the largest, most diverse communities anywhere in the State in terms of cultures, language, religions, gender, age, abilities, socio-economic background, employment status, occupation, and housing needs. One in five Darebin residents is affected by a disability, and almost one-third of these residents require assistance with daily living. Reporting to the CFO, this role is responsible for strategic and operational management of finance systems and processes across the organisation. It is responsible for maintaining the integrity of Council's financial systems, ensuring effective operations and reporting. The role includes managing the rollout of finance modules in a new ERP system as part of the Council’s digital transformation agenda, leading system upgrades, and coordinating user testing and integration. The position also collaborates with the finance Coordinators as leadership group to document scope and requirements for the transformation program, enhance reporting and efficiency through continuous improvement, and provide ongoing training to business users. Additionally, the role manages relationships with external vendors for system enhancements and issue resolution.

You bring extensive experience as a Systems Accountant, along with project management experience in leading medium-to-large scale projects. You bring extensive demonstrated knowledge and experience with large Tier 1 ERP systems, along with proven expertise in ERP implementation, including user testing, cutover, and change management. You are someone who can confidently manage change within the finance function, with a broad, strategic view of finance systems and the information they require. You'll understand how these systems connect and how best to integrate with various platforms across the business. A key part of this role is listening to and representing the diverse perspectives within the finance team, ensuring their needs are clearly voiced and considered in broader decision-making. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Finance, Commerce, or IT, along with a CPA or CA qualification. Strong knowledge of interconnected system interfaces and a deep understanding of finance data flows, and how to effectively link them, are essential to success in this role.
