Davidson Technology are working with a large State Government Department to secure an experienced Solution Architect (Directory and identity) who will operate across a portfolio spanning on-premise and Cloud services.



About the Role

As the Solutions Architect (Directory & Identity), you’ll play a critical role in ensuring cohesive, secure, and effective integration of directory, identity, and tenant services across the agency’s private cloud and Microsoft cloud environments. Operating across the Digital Marketplace portfolio, this role spans on-premise and cloud platforms, including VMware-based infrastructure, Active Directory, SQL, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure services, billing, and Azure Virtual Desktops. You’ll be responsible for defining and governing architectural models—current state, transitional states, and target end-state—while collaborating with Architecture and Innovation, Modern Workplace, Azure, and Microsoft Services teams to address operational needs and Machinery of Government changes. By providing solution design leadership, strategic analysis, risk management, and expert consultation, you will ensure system architecture and integration align with government frameworks and the agency standards. Throughout delivery, you’ll maintain oversight to validate designs, manage risks and issues, and ensure implementations remain consistent with approved designs and program objectives.



About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring over seven years of expertise in Active Directory and identity architecture within complex enterprise and government environments, underpinned by formal IT qualifications and highly regarded Microsoft certifications. With proven experience designing and delivering large-scale AD and Entra ID solutions, you’ll demonstrate deep technical knowledge across forests, domains, trusts, replication, OU and GPO design, DNS, PKI, AD FS, and Entra Connect, as well as tenant separation, mergers, and uplift projects. You will combine technical excellence with strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, ensuring the delivery of secure, standards-aligned solutions that meet business and program objectives. Adept at producing professional solution designs, transitional architectures, and technical documentation, you’ll consistently achieve results through reliable, high-quality service delivery, whilst fostering collaborative relationships and contributing to workforce diversity and departmental development. Your integrity, accountability, and drive ensure both immediate impact and ongoing contribution to future departmental goals.



The Benefits

You will be offered a 6-month contract (possible extension) on an excellent hourly rate and the ability to negotiate a flexible working arrangement for the duration of the assignment.
