Site Manager – Renewable Energy Infrastructure

About the Company

Iberdrola Australia is part of the global Iberdrola Group, a leading renewable energy company committed to accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. With a growing portfolio of renewable energy generation and storage assets across Australia, Iberdrola continues to invest in critical infrastructure that supports the nation's evolving energy needs.

As part of this investment, Iberdrola is delivering a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at Tungkillo, approximately one hour from Adelaide. With construction underway, this project presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of significant energy infrastructure in South Australia.

About the Role

Davidson is partnering with Iberdrola Australia to recruit an experienced Site Manager to provide client-side leadership and oversight of construction activities at its Tungkillo BESS project.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will act as Iberdrola's representative on site, overseeing contractor performance, coordinating construction activities and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.

A key focus will be the delivery of high-voltage electrical infrastructure, particularly substation works, alongside the management of multidisciplinary contractors and site interfaces.

Beyond construction oversight, you will play an important role in maintaining positive relationships with local councils, community representatives, landowners and other key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing daily site activities, with a focus on safety, quality, construction progress and contractor performance.
  • Managing interfaces across civil, electrical and high-voltage infrastructure works, ensuring effective coordination between contractors and project teams.
  • Monitoring construction programmes, identifying delivery risks and escalating issues to maintain project momentum.
  • Championing a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with HSE standards and project requirements.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with local councils, community stakeholders, landowners and external consultants.
  • Supporting project reporting, quality assurance, construction handovers and the transition into commissioning and project close-out.

About You

You are an accomplished Site Manager or senior construction professional with a proven track record delivering complex electrical infrastructure, major construction or renewable energy projects.

You bring strong technical understanding, sound commercial judgement and the confidence to represent a project owner while managing experienced principal contractors and diverse stakeholder groups.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Significant site management or senior construction supervision experience across major infrastructure, high-voltage electrical, substation or renewable energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HV infrastructure, ideally including 275kV or 330kV substation environments.
  • Proven experience managing principal contractors, coordinating multidisciplinary site teams and maintaining construction delivery standards.
  • Strong HSE leadership, with the ability to proactively identify risks, resolve issues and drive accountability.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, particularly when working with local communities, councils and external parties.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, manage construction priorities and contribute to effective project planning and reporting.

Previous experience on utility-scale BESS, solar or wind farm projects will be highly regarded, although candidates with a strong background in high-voltage substations or transmission infrastructure are equally encouraged to apply.

Experience working with South Australian network service providers, including Enerven, would be advantageous.

The Benefits

This is an opportunity to join a globally recognised renewable energy business and play a pivotal role in delivering critical energy infrastructure in South Australia.

  • Permanent career opportunity: Join Iberdrola Australia with the potential to contribute to future projects beyond the Tungkillo development.
  • Major project exposure: Take ownership of site delivery activities on a significant battery storage development, with commercial operation targeted for May 2028.
  • Competitive remuneration: An attractive salary package with short-term incentive opportunities.
  • Lifestyle and location: Work approximately one hour from Adelaide, with accommodation provided close to site during rostered working periods.
  • Work-life balance: A structured site roster with standard working hours, rather than extended 12-hour construction shifts.

If you are an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in high-voltage infrastructure and are looking to make a meaningful contribution to Australia's renewable energy future, we encourage you to apply.
