We’re seeking an experienced Senior UX Designer for a 6-month contract engagement with a leading Australian bank. This role is suited to a UX professional with strong domain knowledge in banking or financial services, and a proven ability to deliver scalable, user-centric design outcomes within fast-paced, cross-functional teams.
As part of a digital product transformation program, you will work alongside stakeholders from product, engineering, and the business to design and validate experiences that align with both user needs and business objectives. You’ll play a key role in shaping end-to-end journeys for customers and staff by leveraging research, insight, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead UX discovery activities including user research, journey mapping, and stakeholder workshops
- Translate business requirements and user needs into effective, testable UX designs
- Build prototypes and conduct usability testing to iterate and improve design solutions
- Collaborate with UI designers, developers, product owners, and SMEs to ensure a cohesive and feasible user experience
- Design and document consistent UX patterns that can be reused across digital platforms
- Present and communicate design rationale and user insight to stakeholders and senior leaders
- Champion accessibility, usability, and user-centred design in all aspects of delivery
- Contribute to the development of internal design standards and governance frameworks
Required Experience
- Proven experience designing UX solutions for the banking or financial services sector
- Expertise in user research methods, usability testing, and design validation
- Proficiency with design tools such as Figma (or equivalent)
- Strong capability in wireframing, prototyping, and journey mapping
- Deep understanding of UX principles, accessibility standards, and responsive design
- Ability to work effectively in agile, cross-functional teams
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at multiple levels
