Senior Test Manager

Information & Communication Technology

The Opportunity

Our client in the energy sector is embarking on a large-scale implementation of a new SaaS System. This is a key role within a strategic transformation program, offering an initial 6-month contract with strong scope for extension.

You will join at the analysis and design phase and play a pivotal role in establishing the end-to-end test strategy for a critical enterprise platform. This is a rare opportunity to shape quality and delivery outcomes from the ground up—without the legacy constraints of existing systems.

This is a Melbourne based role, requiring office attendance 2-3 days per week. Unfortunately sponosorship isn't available for this role.

The Role

As Senior Test Manager, you will be responsible for setting up and managing the testing approach for this new platform implementation. Working closely with business analysts, solution architects, and vendor stakeholders, you will drive all testing activities across the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing the overall testing strategy, from system through to user acceptance testing.
  • Defining quality benchmarks and identifying appropriate tools, environments, and processes to support effective test execution.
  • Leading test planning, execution, and defect management in a hands-on capacity.
  • Building the business case for test automation and advising on scalable approaches to its adoption.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in a high-visibility, high-accountability role.

About You

You are a self-sufficient, senior-level test professional with a proven track record of managing test strategies in greenfield or complex enterprise technology programs .

You will bring:

  • Deep experience in test strategy design, planning, and delivery within enterprise IT environments.
  • Hands-on capabilities across system, integration, and UAT testing phases.
  • Familiarity with SaaS implementations and enterprise data platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to operate independently without a dedicated test team reporting to you.
  • The confidence to shape testing from scratch, and the pragmatism to roll up your sleeves as needed.

Benefits

  • Initial 6-month contract with likely extensions—multi-year program scope.
  • ASAP start date.
  • Hybrid work flexibility and collaborative culture.
