This is a fantastic opportunity to join a globally recognised infrastructure and engineering consultancy supporting some of the most complex defence and infrastructure projects currently underway in Australia.
The organisation is experiencing significant growth across its defence portfolio, with long-term programs and projects creating sustained demand for highly specialised engineering capability. As a result, the Talent Acquisition team plays a critical role in enabling the business to deliver on these major national programs.
This role sits within a high-performing global Talent Acquisition function, partnering closely with senior technical leaders to solve complex talent challenges across Australia and international markets.
Rather than a high-volume recruitment role, this position focuses on strategic, highly specialised hiring, requiring deep market engagement, proactive talent mapping and global sourcing.
The Opportunity
As the Senior Strategic Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will partner with senior stakeholders across engineering and defence portfolios to identify, attract and secure highly specialised technical talent.
This role combines strategic workforce planning, high-level recruitment delivery and talent intelligence to support some of the organisation’s most commercially important programs.
You will work closely with technical leaders, HR partners and global recruitment colleagues to deliver innovative sourcing strategies and build talent pipelines across niche technical disciplines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading end-to-end recruitment for senior and specialist engineering roles
- Developing proactive talent pipelines across niche and global technical markets
- Conducting international talent mapping and sourcing activities
- Providing market insights and recruitment strategy advice to senior stakeholders
- Challenging and influencing hiring decisions with evidence-based talent insights
- Leveraging recruitment technology and sourcing platforms to identify top talent

The team works across Australia and internationally and is supported by a dedicated sourcing capability and advanced recruitment technology. Recruiters are encouraged to bring market insights, challenge hiring assumptions and operate as trusted advisors to the business.

About you
This role will suit an experienced recruiter who enjoys solving complex hiring challenges and partnering closely with senior stakeholders.
You may currently be working:
- within an engineering, infrastructure or defence organisation
- within a recruitment agency specialising in technical or engineering markets
- in an internal Talent Acquisition team supporting highly specialised hiring
You will bring:
- strong direct sourcing and headhunting capability
- experience recruiting complex or highly specialised roles
- excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- the ability to operate strategically while still delivering recruitment outcomes
- curiosity, resilience and a proactive approach to market engagement
