Are you a confident and delivery-focused infrastructure specialist ready to shape strategy and lead solution design across core enterprise platforms? We’re seeking an experienced Solution Architect with a deep infrastructure background to guide technology simplification and help drive meaningful change across a complex IT landscape.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who can hit the ground running, develop high-quality architectural outputs, and communicate effectively across both technical teams and senior stakeholders. You’ll focus on rationalising existing infrastructure, leading the design of fit-for-purpose solutions, and contributing to longer-term roadmaps that support organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and documentation of infrastructure solutions across data centres, networking, storage, and backup environments.
- Drive technology rationalisation and simplification, identifying opportunities to consolidate platforms and reduce operational complexity.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure solution integrity from design through implementation.
- Develop clear, pragmatic architecture roadmaps aligned to strategic objectives and operational realities.
- Provide technical leadership across initiatives involving network design, data centre modernisation, backup and archiving, and hybrid infrastructure.
- Engage in governance processes, presenting solutions to review boards and producing high-quality architectural artefacts.
- Translate complex requirements into clear, actionable designs that meet both technical and business needs.
- Communicate and consult confidently with technical peers, operational teams, and senior managers across the organisation.
Skills and experience required
- 8+ years of experience in Solution Architecture or Technical Architecture, with a primary focus on infrastructure.
- Proven capability designing and delivering solutions across:
- Data centre transitions or exits
- Network infrastructure (Cisco preferred)
- Storage (SANs), backup and archiving
- Virtualisation (e.g. VMware)
- Azure infrastructure – compute, networking, storage
- A strong grasp of infrastructure planning, lifecycle management, and technical debt management.
- Experience in documenting complex designs in a structured, stakeholder-friendly manner.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical experts and business leaders.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) is beneficial but not essential.
