Senior Project Support Officer

Information & Communication Technology

About the Company

Davidson Technology is partnering with a leading State Government Department to recruit an experienced Senior Project Officer to support the delivery of multiple cyber security and ICT projects across the department and partner agencies.

About the Role

As Senior Project Officer you will provide high quality, hands-on delivery support to projects and programs. This role requires you to produce decision-ready project documentation from day one and operate with minimal direction. Typical duties include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain governance artifacts: board packs, program and project status reports that are decision-ready (clear progress, risks, issues, forecast and recommended actions).
  • Own the RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) log: create, maintain, escalate and present RAID entries for governance review.
  • Prepare and maintain project financial reporting: track actuals vs forecasts, identify and explain variances, and present financial metrics suitable for board or governance approval.
  • Support program and project governance: coordinate meetings, prepare agendas/minutes, action tracking and follow-up.
  • Produce high-quality project documentation (project briefs, plans, change requests, communications) independently and to the standard required by senior stakeholders.
  • Work autonomously and provide proactive delivery support to project managers and leads from commencement.
  • Liaise with technical teams and partners to collate inputs and translate technical status into succinct governance reporting.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate practical, hands-on experience (not just conceptual knowledge) in the following areas:

  • Proven experience producing decision-ready project status reports and board packs independently (provide examples in your application).
  • Practical experience maintaining RAID logs over the life of a project, including escalation and governance reporting.
  • Project financial reporting experience — tracking actuals vs forecasts, preparing variance analysis and presenting financial information for board consideration.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality project documentation (plans, change requests, communications, close-out documents) with minimal rework.
  • Ability to operate autonomously — provide effective delivery support from commencement with low levels of mentoring.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and written communication skills — able to translate complex/technical status into concise governance outputs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Word/Excel), experience with project tools (MS Project / JIRA / Confluence / similar) and document control.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience; project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) is highly regarded.
  • MANDATORY: Must meet SAFIA 5 framework requirements for the role.

The Benefits

You will be offered a contract through to end of financial year with further extensions highly likely. You be rewarded an excellent hourly rate and the ability to negotiate a flexible working arrangement for the duration of the assignment.
