The Opportunity

We’ve partnered with a large, complex global insurance organisation embarking on a multi-year transformation to redesign its operating model, portfolio management, sourcing strategy and delivery capabilities. The Program will reshape how work is prioritised, funded and delivered across multiple business portfolios, with a strong focus on SAFe-based agile ways of working, governance, and transparency of value and spend.

As the Senior Project Manager / Program Manager, you will own the end-to-end delivery of a strategic initiative, coordinating multiple squads/streams in a scaled agile environment. This is a high-impact role for an experienced delivery leader who enjoys navigating complexity, bringing structure to ambiguity and coaching teams to high performance.

You will report to the Program Director and work closely with senior business, technology and vendor stakeholders across regions.


Key Responsibilities

• Own delivery of a strategic initiative end-to-end, from mobilisation through to benefits realisation.
• Establish and manage an integrated delivery plan – scope, milestones, dependencies, risks/issues and change control across multiple squads/streams.
• Lead and run PI planning, dependency mapping, cadence and ceremonies (e.g. scrum of scrums, system demos, inspect & adapt) across distributed teams.
• Partner with business, technology and vendor stakeholders to align scope, priorities, funding and capacity, resolving cross-stream conflicts and blockers.
• Build, lead and coach a high-performing community of Project/Programme Managers and PMO Analysts aligned to the strategic initiative.
• Drive continuous improvement of delivery practices, tooling and ways of working in line with scaled agile principles and program guardrails.
• Champion a culture of accountability, transparent communication and outcome-focused delivery across distributed, multicultural teams.
• Provide clear, structured updates and recommendations to senior stakeholders, simplifying complex delivery information into clear options and decisions.

About You

You are an experienced Senior Project/Program Manager or RTE who thrives in large, complex environments and is comfortable operating in both business and technology domains.

You will bring:

• 10–15 years’ experience in senior project/program management roles within insurance or broader financial services, delivering large, multi-year initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience as an RTE or equivalent delivery lead across multiple agile squads/streams in a scaled agile environment.
• Strong planning, dependency management and risk/issue management capability across business and technology domains.
• Proven track record in running PI planning and agile ceremonies across distributed teams and time zones.
• Excellent stakeholder and vendor management skills, with the ability to resolve delivery conflicts and negotiate priorities based on value and capacity.
• Outstanding communication and facilitation skills, with confidence engaging senior executives and delivery teams.
• Comfort with ambiguity, with the ability to structure complex problems and communicate insights and decisions clearly.
• Familiarity with portfolio management, PMO tooling and agile-at-scale frameworks (e.g. SAFe).
