Senior Project Manager

Projects and Operations

About the role

Our client is a leading Queensland water infrastructure provider delivering essential services across the state, known for its commitment to sustainability, regulatory transparency, and long-term investment in modernising systems and operations.

They have an urgent requirement for a skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join their team, in a high-profile role supporting regulatory pricing initiatives within a major organisation in the water utilities sector.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of economic regulation, policy compliance, and operational transformation. You will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of a program designed to align the organisation’s water pricing frameworks with legislative and regulatory expectations—supporting transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability.

You will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, and manage project governance, vendor performance, and reporting at an executive level.

This position has the potential to run until March 2027, offers a collaborative and supportive work environment, flexible/hybrid work arrangements and the modern and open plan offices are located close to parking and transport links.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a multi-year regulatory pricing program, ensuring alignment with legislative and economic frameworks
  • Lead cross-functional internal teams and manage vendor partners to meet delivery milestones
  • Translate complex compliance and policy requirements into actionable project plans and business outcomes
  • Engage regulatory, financial, IT, and operational stakeholders to ensure unified delivery
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, risk registers, and progress reporting
  • Oversee governance, project documentation, and assurance requirements
  • Ensure the timely and effective resolution of risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Drive alignment between business goals, customer expectations, and regulatory obligations

About you

  • 10+ years of experience delivering enterprise-scale projects, ideally within water, utilities, infrastructure, or regulatory sectors
  • Proven success leading complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in policy-driven environments
  • Deep understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid)
  • Strong commercial and vendor management capability, including contract negotiation and SLA oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at the executive level and present business cases or updates to senior leadership
  • Advanced communication skills, with a sharp ability to translate technical or policy content into business language
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Business, or Engineering
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications are essential; ITIL or TOGAF is highly regarded
  • Experience working with government agencies or in regulated environments will be a strong advantage

Why This Role?

This project sits at the heart of one of Queensland’s most important public-facing sectors. You will lead the modernisation of how essential services are priced and regulated—contributing to a fairer, more transparent framework for customers and regulators alike.
