About the Role
As the Senior Program Cost Controller, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective cost control systems across a major multi‑project program. Working closely with Program Managers, Project Managers, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and other internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure cost transparency, financial accuracy, and effective decision‑making support.
You will also mentor cost controllers, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure reporting integrity across the program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of cost controllers.
- Manage and control program budgets of $200M and above
- Deliver comprehensive cost control support, including forecasting, earned value analysis, estimating input, claim verification, and accrual assessment.
- Prepare and analyse project budgets, financial performance reports, and updated forecasts.
- Monitor cash flow and financial health across the program lifecycle.
- Manage variations, cost changes, and program-wide financial risks and opportunities.
- Set up and maintain cost monitoring and reporting systems ensuring strict financial governance.
- Maintain data integrity within project controls systems and provide accurate, timely reporting.
- Support contractor variation assessments and claims evaluations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to address issues impacting financial outcomes.
About You
- Significant cost control experience, ideally within large infrastructure programs, at the program level.
- Proven capability managing/controlling budgets of $200M+
- Prior experience within the transport or heavy infrastructure industries is highly advantageous.
- Deep understanding of project cost management principles.
- Strong knowledge of cost control, planning, scheduling, and earned value management.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Proven ability to manage competing deadlines with high accuracy and attention to detail.
