Senior Power BI Developer / Analytics Lead
Canberra | Contract, Initial 6 months with an option to extend for 6 months

We’re working with a key government client on a major program focused on improving workforce and HR reporting capability across the public sector.
They’re looking for a highly capable Power BI specialist who can take ownership of reporting and analytics, working across complex datasets to deliver meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys building, analysing, and translating data into clear, impactful dashboards.
What you’ll be doing
- Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports end-to-end
- Build and optimise data models and write advanced DAX measures
- Work with large and complex datasets across multiple systems
- Support the development of a centralised data and reporting environment
- Deliver automated and self-service reporting solutions
- Analyse data to identify trends, risks, and actionable insights
- Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and present insights clearly
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience developing Power BI dashboards in complex environments
- Solid DAX capability and data modelling experience
- Ability to work across the full lifecycle from data through to visualisation
- Experience working with SQL and structured data sources
- Comfortable engaging with business stakeholders and translating requirements
- Experience in government or large enterprise environments is highly regarded
Nice to have
- Exposure to Azure, Power Platform, or ETL tools
- Experience working with HR, workforce, or operational datasets
