The Opportunity
Join a forward-thinking technology team undergoing a significant cloud transformation. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact by contributing to a high-priority infrastructure migration project, helping the client modernise their platforms and exit legacy on-premises environments. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering function focused on automation, platform reliability, and delivering secure, scalable systems in AWS.
This is a 6-month contract role offering challenging work, technical autonomy, and the chance to contribute to a meaningful enterprise-wide initiative. Melbourne or Sydney based, must attend the office 2 days per week. Unfortunately no sponsorship is offered for this opportunity.
The Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end cloud infrastructure solutions that support the migration of production systems from on-prem to AWS.
Your other responsibilities will include:
- Migrating and supporting Kubernetes platforms, MySQL/MongoDB databases, and event-driven services (Kafka, RabbitMQ) to AWS.
- Building and maintaining automated infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Packer.
- Ensuring compliance, observability, and operational reliability of the cloud environments.
- Integrating existing CI/CD and monitoring frameworks to support modern DevOps practices.
- Troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues across Linux-based systems and AWS services.
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to documentation and knowledge sharing across the team.
About You
In order to be a successful applicant, you will have a strong foundation in platform engineering and infrastructure automation within complex enterprise environments.
You will also have:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS, with a broader background of 10+ years in system administration or engineering.
- Proven success in executing AWS migrations, particularly involving containerised and database-driven workloads.
- Strong proficiency in Linux (system-level), Kubernetes, and container technologies.
- Deep experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation using Terraform, Ansible, and Bash.
- Ability to work independently, hit the ground running, and adapt quickly to project requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute to a high-performing team culture.
