They are a one-of-a-kind entity in Australia, managing over four million aircraft movements each year and delivering air navigation services across 11% of the world’s airspace. Their operations span air traffic control towers, aviation firefighting, and critical support functions. Right now, the organisation is undergoing an exciting transformation. They are shifting to a new operating model and reshaping their shared services capability. As part of this change, they are building their Employee Support team. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to step into a pivotal advisory position during a time of real organisational growth and change.


Please note this is a 6-month fixed term contract role with the potential to go permanent.


About the Role

You will be a senior HR practitioner within the Employee Support team. You will act as a trusted coach, case manager and strategic sounding board for leaders across a highly complex, unionised and regulated environment.

You will take the lead on high-risk and sensitive employee relations cases, provide leadership coaching and help shape how HR supports a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce.

You will work across a national workforce including air traffic control, aviation rescue firefighting, and corporate services. Your remit will involve triaging, guiding and resolving high-level people matters while strengthening the ability of line leaders to manage performance, conduct, grievance and absence issues effectively.

You will:

  • Coach and advise operational and corporate leaders on proactive people management
  • Manage complex HR matters including grievances, investigations and misconduct
  • Act as the escalation point for complex HR queries across the employee lifecycle
  • Review and analyse workforce data to identify trends and recommend solutions
  • Promote and embed frameworks around talent, diversity and organisational change
  • Build strong relationships with line managers and uplift leadership capability
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement as HR transforms its service model


About You

You will bring:

  • Strong HR advisory and case management experience within large, complex or unionised environments
  • Solid knowledge of enterprise agreements, employment legislation and public sector HR frameworks
  • A demonstrated ability to coach and influence senior line leaders through complex scenarios
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
  • Experience gained in large-scale organisations such as transport, aviation, infrastructure, health, mining or utilities
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, Business or related fields (desirable)
