Lead a high performing GIS function for a major essential services provider located on the northside of Brisbane. Shape how spatial information is used across the business and deliver data products that lift productivity and decision making.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Asset Manager within the Asset Knowledge and Performance team, you will drive business adoption of GIS so that data is accurate, consistent and easy to access. You will guide a small team and partner across planning, delivery and service operations.
Responsibilies
- Lead and mentor the GIS team to deliver timely and high quality services for internal customers
- Lift performance through continuous improvement and quality assurance and control processes
- Manage master asset data so new and retired assets are captured promptly
- Own and maintain data dictionaries and controlled documents
- Turn GIS data into practical information products such as data capture apps and structured input spreadsheets
- Act as subject matter expert with Technology and Digital Solutions to evolve the Asset Information Model and support system enhancements through consultation and education
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, policies and procedures for spatial analysis and data capture across planning, capital delivery and infrastructure services
- Contribute to the GIS Technical Reference Group and other specialist forums
Skills and experience required
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in an information management field and deep experience in GIS
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor and guide professional and technical staff
- Strong customer focus, collaboration and communication
- Knowledge of spatial standards and metadata
- C Class driver licence
- Passion for GIS technology and the science behind it
- Knowledge of asset management principles including ISO 55001
- Advanced ESRI ArcGIS skills for asset data capture, specialist spatial analysis, network validation and statistical analysis
- Senior level GIS experience and the time management to juggle multiple projects
- Strong analytical and problem solving mindset with a track record in continuous improvement
