Senior Full Stack Developer (Front End Focus)
The Opportunity
This is an exciting contract opportunity to join a large-scale digital banking program where you’ll have a direct impact on customer-facing platforms used at scale. You’ll work within a high-performing, cross-functional engineering environment that values modern engineering practices, innovation, and strong collaboration, while contributing to secure, reliable and accessible financial services.
Must be able to attend the Melbourne CBD office 3 days per week. Unfortunately sponsorship is not available for this position. Immediate availability is preferred.
The Role
As a Full Stack Engineer you will be responsible for owning and delivering key product modules with a strong focus on front-end engineering.
Your other responsibilities will include:
- Designing, building and maintaining cloud-based applications, APIs and microservices
- Leading the development of new features and maintaining an existing codebase to high standards
- Providing technical leadership within your squad, including mentoring and guidance to other engineers
- Ensuring robust coding practices with strong unit, component and integration test coverage
- Collaborating closely with developers, engineering managers, test automation engineers, BAs and UX designers across the service team
About You
In order to be a successful applicant you will have extensive experience as a senior full stack or front-end–focused engineer.
You will also have:
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and JavaScript, particularly React
- Experience working with modern frameworks, build tools (e.g. Gradle, Webpack) and Git-based version control
- Proven experience creating reusable components and maintaining high-quality documentation
- Strong understanding of SDLC processes, with confidence to challenge and suggest improvements
- Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the initiative to lead from a technical perspective
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to modern libraries such as React, Spring Boot or Angular
- API design using Swagger/OpenAPI and secure coding practices
- Automated testing frameworks and Agile delivery environments
- Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0, Section 508)
- DevOps and cloud experience, particularly AWS
