As part of their ongoing expansion, they are looking to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant to play a key role in financial reporting, project support, and compliance.




About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position will be responsible for managing the month-end close, preparing financial reports, and supporting project teams with financial performance insights. The role involves working closely with senior stakeholders across finance and operations, and will suit someone who enjoys both technical accounting and commercial exposure. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Brisbane, ideal for a finance professional with strong technical capabilities and experience in a project-based or mannufacturing/construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes including preparation of financial statements
  • Ensure timely and accurate general ledger reconciliations, accruals, and journals
  • Monitor WIP, margins, and revenue recognition on active construction projects
  • Manage tax compliance including BAS, GST and FBT reporting
  • Lead audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
  • Support annual budgets and rolling forecasts
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of finance systems and internal processes
  • Provide timely and relevant financial reporting to assist business decision-making

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or CA qualified
  • At least 5 years of experience in a financial accounting role, with a preference for those with experience in construction or project environments
  • Big 4 or mid-tier public practice experience is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of WIP, cost control, and project-based reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
