Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an Senior Environmental Officer to support the delivery of a major infrastructure project.
About the Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, this role provides high‑level environmental advice and leadership to ensure statutory obligations are met and sound environmental management is embedded throughout project delivery.
You will play a key advisory role across all phases of the project, supporting compliance with relevant environmental legislation and approvals while working closely with internal teams, external advisors, and government stakeholders.
- Assist with the delivery of Commonwealth and State environmental approvals and offsets, as required.
- Provide specialist environmental advice on environmental assessment, legislation, compliance, and management during all phases of the project, including:
- Review of project design
- Environmental surveys
- Spatial data
- Public Environment Reports (PERs)
- Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)
- Contract specifications, audits, and briefs
- Identify potential problem areas and negotiate modifications to project design where required.
- Provide guidance on the scope and direction of project activities, acting as a key advisor to project management teams on environmental issues and risks to project delivery.
- Coordinate and project manage the acquisition of environmental offset and project land, working with multiple internal teams and external project advisors.
- Maintain effective liaison and communication with internal staff, State and Local Government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
- Provide high-level written and oral advice on development-related matters associated with the safety and efficiency of state transport corridors, in line with legislated timeframes.
- Represent the project on working groups, steering committees, and in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare advice relating to ministerial correspondence and briefing notes as directed by senior leadership.
- Undertake other tasks as required to ensure sound environmental management and infrastructure sustainability is embedded in project outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical environmental expertise, the ability to influence and advise across complex projects, and experience working in multidisciplinary environments.
Mandatory requirements include:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
- A current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
- Ability to undergo criminal history screening as part of the recruitment process.
Benefits
- $70.00 per hour + Super
- Contract until 2028
