- Lead patient-centered healthcare delivery across adult prisons and youth detention settings
- Drive multidisciplinary reform and strategic system improvement
- Make a meaningful impact on health and justice outcomes in Queensland
West Moreton Health is one of Queensland’s most diverse and rapidly evolving Hospital and Health Services, delivering healthcare to over 300,000 people across urban, rural, and regional communities. It plays a critical role in providing specialist health care to people in custody, managing some of the state’s most complex prisoner and youth detention health services. The organisation is recognised for its commitment to reform, equity, and culturally safe, person-centered care.
As Senior Director, Prison and Youth Detention Health Services (PYDHS), you will lead the strategic and operational delivery of multidisciplinary health care to adults and young people in custody across the region. Responsible for a workforce of more than 300 staff and a $90 million operating budget, this role is central to improving long-term health outcomes and advancing equity for some of Queensland’s most vulnerable populations.
You will bring senior-level leadership experience in health service delivery, ideally in custodial, primary, or preventative health, alongside demonstrated capability managing large operational teams, significant budgets, and clinical governance frameworks. Your success will depend on your ability to build relationships across Queensland Health, corrections, youth justice, and community partners, while leading strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and reform in complex systems. A strong commitment to inclusion, public sector values, and culturally safe care will be essential.
This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to health and justice outcomes in Queensland, while leading one of the most unique and purposeful roles in the health system.
