Senior Business Analyst – Energy Domain | Regulatory & Network Reform

The Opportunity

Our energy client is seeking two experienced Senior Business Analysts to support critical regulated electricity network initiatives. These roles sit at the intersection of regulatory interpretation, network operations, customer connections, and digital delivery. This is an opportunity to contribute to high-impact reform initiatives that shape compliance outcomes, operational models, and customer-facing platforms within a complex, asset-intensive energy environment.

Must be able to attend the Melbourne CBD office 3 days per week. Unfortunately sponsorship is not available for this position.

The Role

As a Senior Business Analyst you will be responsible for translating regulatory obligations and business needs into clear, structured, and delivery-ready artefacts across regulated energy programs.

Your other responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing and interpreting regulatory instruments (e.g. Ministerial Orders, licence conditions, AER guidance) and translating obligations into auditable business requirements.
  • Leading current-state and future-state business process analysis using BPMN standards across customer, network, and operational workflows.
  • Producing high-quality BA artefacts including requirements, assumptions, risks, traceability matrices, and process models.
  • Facilitating structured discovery and solution workshops with regulatory, network, digital, and customer stakeholders.
  • Supporting business case development, options analysis, and investment documentation.
  • Acting as the BA through delivery phases, ensuring traceability from regulatory intent to implemented solution.

About you

In order to be a successful applicant you will bring demonstrated experience as a Senior Business Analyst within energy utilities or similarly regulated environments.

You will also have:

  • Experience working on regulatory-driven initiatives involving evolving or ambiguous obligations.
  • Strong business process modelling capability, including applied BPMN current and future-state analysis.
  • Experience defining requirements for customer-facing digital platforms and operational systems.
  • High documentation discipline suitable for regulated, audit-sensitive delivery environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills across senior leaders and technical teams.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline with 7+ years’ BA experience.

Benefits

  • Initial 6 month engagement (day rate or 12 month fixed term option available).
  • Opportunity to contribute to major electricity network reform initiatives.
  • Work within a collaborative, regulated energy environment.
  • Exposure to high-profile compliance and digital transformation programs.
