The Opportunity

An established major Australian bank is investing heavily in its mobile platforms and looking for an Android Engineer to help evolve their consumer apps, lift engineering standards, and strengthen CI/CD practices across a high-performing squad environment. You will work on impactful enhancements used by millions of customers, with the stability, tooling, and career pathways that come with a large, well-funded tech organisation.


The Role

In this role, you will join a cross-functional squad focused on enhancing core Android features and streamlining the delivery pipeline.

• Build and maintain native Android features using Kotlin, with some legacy Java
• Work across modern Android patterns, including MVVM, Jetpack components, and reactive streams
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Gradle
• Improve testing practices with unit, UI, and integration tests (JUnit, Espresso, etc.)
• Collaborate with designers, product owners, and backend engineers in an agile environment
• Participate in code reviews, technical design, and continuous improvement initiatives

About You
You are a pragmatic Android Engineer who can balance clean architecture, delivery speed, and production stability.

• Commercial experience building and shipping Android apps in Kotlin
• Solid grasp of Android SDK, Jetpack, material design, and responsive UI patterns
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile (build, test, deploy, release automation)
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and integrating with backend services
• Comfortable working in agile squads, with clear communication and ownership mindset
• Passionate about quality, observability, and improving developer experience
