About the Role

A Senior Analyst plays a hands-on role in performance audits and audit-related work that supports
Parliament and the Victorian community to understand how well public sector organisations are performing.

Senior Analysts help plan, deliver and quality-assure performance audits and related products, turning complex
analysis into clear, evidence-based findings that can withstand parliamentary scrutiny.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, contribute to timely and high-quality performance audits and products, including responsibility for at least one complex performance audit issue, project, or task. Ensure your work is conducted in line with our approved methodology, there is a robust evidence base for each finding, and you are prepared for work to be subject to vigorous scrutiny and challenge.
  • Contribute to the development of sector planning and a forward work program.
  • Develop your professional practice skills and knowledge, and understanding of government expenditure, priorities, and business.
  • Deliver clear, succinct, high-quality written and verbal products in plain English, often within tight timeframes.
  • Actively listen to feedback or concerns of auditees, attend engagements with key internal and external stakeholders, and professionally represent organization’s views.
  • Contribute to a people-centred culture where innovation and new thinking is supported, establish yourself as a trusted, collegiate and collaborative member of PRS, and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork acrossthe Division.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to audits, policy development and analysis or similar processes. An understanding or ability to quickly adapt and acquire an understanding, of systems and the role and functions of performance audit.
  • Well developed research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, including data analysis. Ability to quickly assimilate new concepts and information, and provide reasoned, sound and accurate advice.
  • Comfortable working in an environment where findings, judgements and products are subject to vigorous scrutiny and challenge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and prepare products in plain English and underpinned by a robust evidence base, all while ensuring timelines are achieved.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and collaboration skills, with an ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels.
  • Cooperates and works well with others in pursuit of team goals, collaborates and shares information, shows consideration, concern and respect for others feelings and ideas, accommodates and works well with the different working styles of others.
  • Is committed to own development and takes responsibility for own actions.
  • Tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Law, Arts, Economics, Science, Statistics or similar
