About the Role

As a Secondary Substation Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering protection, control, and communication systems for the VNI West project. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the design and integration of critical secondary systems across the project lifecycle.

  • Design and develop protection and control systems for high-voltage substations
  • Support engineering across concept, FEED, and detailed design phases
  • Prepare and review protection schemes, relay settings, and SCADA/communications interfaces
  • Coordinate with primary, transmission line, and broader project teams
  • Contribute to technical documentation, standards compliance, and design reviews
  • Support testing, commissioning, and integration activities

About You

You are a skilled secondary or protection & control engineer with strong technical knowledge and a collaborative approach. You enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and contributing to major infrastructure projects.

  • Experience in secondary systems engineering, ideally across 132kV–500kV substations
  • Strong understanding of protection schemes, relay coordination, and control systems
  • Familiarity with SCADA, communications protocols, and substation automation systems
  • Knowledge of Australian standards and utility requirements
  • Experience across design phases and exposure to commissioning activities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
