About the Role
We are seeking a senior SAP Retail & SAP CAR Functional Lead
to support a large-scale Greenfield S/4HANA Retail and SAP CAR implementation on Hybrid schesdule in Melbourne and 6 months contract with strong extension potential. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep functional expertise, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to guide offshore delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the functional lead and subject matter expert for SAP Retail and SAP CAR
- Lead and support functional workshops with retail business stakeholders
- Validate and refine process maps, solution designs, and functional specifications
- Oversee SAP CAR capabilities including POS integration and promotions (PMR)
- Guide offshore teams on configuration quality and functional correctness
- Support integration with S/4HANA Retail, SAP Finance, and POS systems
- Identify design gaps, propose improvements, and support solution governance
- Execute and support unit, integration, and system testing
- Drive knowledge transfer, training, and business readiness activities
Skills & Experience Required
- 10+ years overall SAP experience with 5+ years in SAP Retail
- Proven hands-on experience implementing SAP CAR (not just integrations)
- Strong expertise in S/4HANA Retail, SAP CAR, PMR, and POS integration
- Experience delivering 2–3 end-to-end SAP Retail implementations
- Deep understanding of retail processes:
- Merchandise Management
- Pricing & Promotions
- Inventory Management
- Retail Master Data & Article Hierarchies
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage business and technical teams
- Experience working in complex, long-running transformation programs
- Melbourne-based and able to work onsite 2–3 days per week
