About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Roster Officer to support centre‑level human resources operations within a 24/7 operating environment. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, you will play a key role in coordinating staffing rosters while also providing a broad range of administrative and clerical support to the human resources unit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development of staff rosters that meet operational requirements and comply with relevant awards and industrial instruments
- Preparing, generating and distributing centre rosters and rostering allocations
- Processing staffing variations in consultation with relevant managers
- Validating employee timesheets and ensuring correct payments in line with award entitlements
- Providing roster cost information and estimates to management
- Reviewing leave entitlements and advising on outstanding balances and excess leave
- Preparing annual leave rosters, including collating staff leave requests and entering data into leave planning systems
- Administering banked time, sick leave and annual recreational leave applications
- Ensuring leave approvals are managed in accordance with approved delegations
- Responding to staff enquiries related to rosters, leave and general HR matters
- Providing administrative support to centre‑level recruitment and selection activities
- Performing data entry across multiple HR and rostering systems
- Maintaining accurate electronic and hard‑copy filing systems
- Maintaining confidentiality and integrity of all human resource information

About You
This is an individual contributor role and would suit a highly organised professional who demonstrates sound judgement, discretion and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced operational environment. You will bring :
- Demonstrated experience in staff roster management, preferably within a 24/7 operating environment
- Strong planning and organisational skills to ensure tasks are completed within required timeframes and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Well‑developed problem‑solving skills, with the ability to show initiative and apply judgement independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders
- High levels of discretion when handling confidential information
- Competent information technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems, with a willingness to learn internal systems
- The ability to acquire knowledge of relevant legislation, awards, regulations and industrial instruments

- There may be occasions where work is required outside normal business hours
- Some travel to other locations or temporary work from alternate sites may be required
