Transport and Main Roads (TMR) connects Queensland through world-class transport systems that support liveability, access, and economic growth. With over 6,800 employees and a vision of Connected communities in a sustainable, thriving, and inclusive Queensland , TMR delivers outcomes that shape the State every day.
The North Coast Region is one of Queensland’s fastest-growing areas, spanning the hinterland to the west and coastal areas to the east, and covering the local government areas of Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Noosa, and Somerset councils.
The region is overseeing more than $7.2 billion in transport infrastructure projects through to 2028–29, with a total of 73 state-controlled roads covering 1,368 kilometres, 129 kilometres of the national land transport network, and 127 kilometres of rail, the region is a critical transport hub. The region also manages 58 boating infrastructures, 406 bridges, and 448 priority-enabled intersections.
As Regional Director, you will work closely across government and TMR to deliver the transformational works announced as part of the Delivery Plan for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including interfacing with rail delivery for the new heavy passenger rail line from Beerwah to Birtinya (The Wave Stages 1 and 2) while driving major road infrastructure upgrades across the region. You will be shaping the future of transport on the Sunshine Coast by delivering an ambitious program of works, including priority government commitments, Bruce Highway and Mooloolah River Interchange upgrades and The Wave Stage 3 (Metro) which will provide for a high-capacity, high-frequency service from Birtinya to the Sunshine Coast Airport.
As the regional leader, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for planning, delivery, maintenance, and stakeholder engagement across the region. Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide strategic advice to the Director-General, Ministers, and senior leaders, represent TMR in high-level forums, and strengthen partnerships across government, industry, First Nations groups, and the community.
You are an experienced executive with a proven track record of leading complex transport programs, service delivery, or infrastructure portfolios. You bring strong stakeholder, policy, and advisory capability and are confident operating in highly visible, politically aware environments. You lead through collaboration, accountability, and performance, and can navigate competing priorities while building team capability and culture.
Experience in transport, infrastructure, economic development, or large-scale government operations will be highly regarded, along with tertiary qualifications in business, engineering, law, project management, economics, or related fields.
This is your opportunity to shape the future of transport and leave a lasting legacy for Queensland. As Regional Director, you will not only lead transformative projects but also influence economic growth, sustainability, and community outcomes across one of the Queensland’s most dynamic regions. If you are ready to take on a high-impact leadership role and drive change that matters, we invite you to apply and help connect communities for generations to come.
