An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Recruitment Officer
to join a Local Government organisation in Mackay on a 3-month contract. This role sits within a People & Culture team and plays a key part in delivering efficient, compliant and best-practice recruitment and selection services across the organisation.
About the Role
As Recruitment Officer, you will:
- Coordinate and administer end-to-end recruitment processes across a diverse workforce
- Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and provide practical recruitment advice
- Manage advertising, candidate communication, interview coordination and panel support
- Conduct reference checks and coordinate pre-employment screening
- Maintain accurate recruitment records within the HRIS
- Prepare recruitment reporting and contribute to process improvements
- Support People & Culture projects and continuous improvement initiatives
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple vacancies concurrently.
About You
You will bring:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a recruitment and selection role
- Strong knowledge of best-practice recruitment processes
- Ability to interpret industrial awards and employment legislation
- Experience using HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
- Well-developed behavioural interviewing and selection techniques
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion
- Strong time management and organisational skills
Experience within Local Government or the public sector will be highly regarded.
