- Work across high-impact property & commercial projects shaping a growing region
- Diverse role with exposure to major infrastructure and development initiatives
- Enjoy lifestyle location + contribute to 1 of Australia’s most liveable regions
Sunshine Coast Council is one of Australia’s most progressive and fast-growing local governments, serving a vibrant community of more than 370,000 residents. The region is experiencing significant growth and investment, underpinned by Council’s Corporate Plan 2025–2030, which sets a clear vision for the Sunshine Coast to be Australia’s most sustainable region – connected, liveable and thriving.
As a major partner in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Council is entering a critical period of transformation, with increasing complexity across planning, infrastructure, development and community outcomes. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing, collaborative legal team working at the centre of that impact.
Reporting to the Senior Solicitor, Property and Commercial, this role will see you advising on a broad mix of property and commercial matters. You will be involved in drafting and negotiating leases, licences, acquisitions and disposals, while also supporting complex commercial and development projects across Council’s portfolio.
The work is varied and engaging, spanning everything from community-based property arrangements through to major infrastructure and development agreements. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to provide pragmatic, solutions-focused legal advice, supporting the delivery of projects that shape the Sunshine Coast region.
This is a hands-on role where you will be trusted to manage matters end-to-end, from initial instruction through to execution, while contributing to a supportive and collaborative team environment.
About You
You are a commercially minded property lawyer with strong technical foundations and a practical approach to problem-solving. You bring experience across property transactions and exposure to broader commercial work, with the ability to navigate complexity and deliver clear, actionable advice.
Your background may include private practice or in-house environments, ideally with solid grounding in Queensland property law. Experience in areas such as development, infrastructure, planning or government will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
You are confident working autonomously while also contributing to a team, and you take pride in delivering high-quality work that supports real-world outcomes. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and sound judgement will be key to your success. Most importantly, you are motivated by the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that have a tangible impact on communities.
This is a compelling opportunity to step into a diverse and evolving role, offering high-quality work, genuine flexibility and the chance to contribute to a region undergoing significant growth and transformation.
