Project Manager - WHS

Corporate

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Project Manager to lead the delivery of a newly established Safety (WHS) Uplift Program. This is a new role created to drive outcomes from organisational safety audits and improvement initiatives.

Reporting to senior leadership within the People & Safety function, the Project Manager will take full ownership of the program, working closely with internal Safety teams and operational leaders across the Service Delivery business.

This role requires a senior, delivery‑focused PM who can operate confidently at executive level, bring structure to complex safety initiatives, and maintain momentum in environments with competing priorities and high expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the end‑to‑end delivery of a Safety Uplift program
  • Establish and run project governance, including planning, risk and issue management, and delivery controls
  • Coordinate working groups, leadership forums, and governance meetings
  • Provide clear, accurate, and fact‑based reporting to senior leaders, Committees, and the Board
  • Work closely with Safety specialists and operational teams to drive practical, risk‑based outcomes
  • Proactively identify delivery and safety risks, escalating issues with clear recommendations
  • Influence outcomes across the organisation without direct line authority

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering WHS, safety uplift, compliance, or risk‑based transformation programs
  • Experience working closely with People & Safety teams and operational business units
  • Background delivering projects in operational, asset‑intensive or regulated environments, such as:
    • Utilities or energy
    • Infrastructure, construction, or engineering
    • Transport, logistics, or field‑based service organisations
  • Strong governance and risk management capability, with experience producing Committee or Board‑level reporting
  • High credibility with senior and executive stakeholders, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments with evolving scope and urgency

Formal safety qualifications are beneficial but not essential; however, strong safety literacy and confidence working in WHS‑led environments are required.
