An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Director to take a senior leadership role in the delivery of a major building development in Hong Kong.
Our client is a leading international construction contractor with an established presence across Asia and a strong track record delivering large-scale, complex building and infrastructure projects.
The immediate opportunity is to lead the delivery of a significant building development in Hong Kong. The project has a three-year delivery programme ahead and includes a substantial multi-level structure and associated works.
The Project Director will provide overall leadership across the project, bringing together construction, commercial, design and operational teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
As Project Director, you will take a highly visible leadership role across the project, providing direction to the broader delivery team and maintaining strong relationships with project partners and stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction across a large and complex building project.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary project team, creating a collaborative and performance-focused project environment.
- Maintain a clear focus on successful project outcomes across construction, programme, commercial performance, safety and quality.
- Work closely with senior construction, commercial, design and engineering leaders to identify priorities and maintain momentum across the project.
- Build productive relationships with the client, joint venture partners, consultants and key project stakeholders.
- Provide senior-level oversight of project performance, identifying emerging challenges and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
- Navigate complex project interfaces and competing priorities while maintaining alignment across the broader delivery team.
- Provide leadership through critical phases of construction, commissioning and project completion.
- Promote effective communication and collaboration across a diverse, multicultural project environment.
- Foster a strong culture of accountability, safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- Represent the project at senior stakeholder and leadership forums and provide clear reporting on overall project performance.
About You
We are seeking an established construction leader who has developed their career through the delivery of significant and complex building projects.
You are likely to have:
- Extensive experience within the major building and construction sector, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications.
- A successful track record in senior project leadership roles with responsibility for complex, high-value developments.
- Experience taking projects through challenging delivery phases and maintaining performance in demanding construction environments.
- The ability to lead and influence large teams comprising construction, engineering, design, commercial and project management professionals.
- A strong understanding of the commercial and contractual considerations associated with major construction projects.
- The confidence and credibility to engage with clients, project partners and senior stakeholders at an executive level.
- Experience working within joint venture, alliance or similarly complex delivery structures would be advantageous.
- A collaborative leadership style combined with the ability to make decisive decisions when required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to bring together teams from different organisations, disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
- Experience delivering projects within Hong Kong, Asia or other international markets would be highly regarded.
Of greater importance is a demonstrated track record leading the delivery of major, technically complex building projects.
