About the role

The Project Director is a leadership role in the Onshore Project Delivery Team and will lead the delivery of large-scale Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This senior role oversees the full project lifecycle—from financial close through pre-construction, construction, and handover—ensuring assets are delivered safely on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards. The Project Director is also responsible for providing governance, risk management, and strategic oversight while acting as the key link between project teams, contractors, and senior management. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead project managers, site managers, and owner’s engineers to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Manage contractor performance, contractual changes, and stakeholder relationships, including authorities and network providers.
  • Provide regular project reporting and updates to senior leadership, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and compliance standards.
  • Approve and oversee technical due diligence, documentation, and commercial assessments to support business decisions.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring 10–15 years’ experience in the delivery of complex, large-scale renewable energy projects, with demonstrated expertise in wind, solar, and battery storage construction. A degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering is required, with postgraduate qualifications in business or project management highly regarded. Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Australia) and/or RPEQ/RPEV registration will be valued. Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams are essential. The successful candidate will be a decisive, organised, and collaborative leader with a proven ability to deliver major infrastructure projects to scope, schedule, and budget and who is looking for an organisation that will offer a clear line of sight for progression.
