As the project continues to progress, we are now seeking an experienced Project Communications Advisor to support the delivery of strategic, clear and consistent communications across this complex and high-profile infrastructure project.

Based in Melbourne, with some travel across regional Victoria, the role will work closely with project leadership, stakeholder engagement teams, government stakeholders and corporate communications functions.
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Manager – Project Partnerships, the Project Communications Advisor will support the delivery of internal and external communications across the VNI West project.
Operating in a fast-paced and highly visible environment, the role will coordinate communication activities, develop high-quality written materials, support stakeholder messaging and help ensure alignment between project, corporate and government communication requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for translating complex project information into clear, audience-appropriate messaging that supports stakeholder engagement, project readiness and community confidence.
What you’ll be doing
- Developing and maintaining project communications and engagement plans aligned to key milestones and project priorities
• Coordinating and delivering communication activities across the project lifecycle
• Preparing high-quality communications, briefings, presentations, FAQs and stakeholder materials
• Supporting senior stakeholder messaging and strategic project communications
• Assisting with project reporting and executive communications activities
• Translating complex or technical project information into clear and concise content for varied audiences
• Supporting internal communications to improve alignment, engagement and awareness across the project team
• Ensuring communications align with Iberdrola corporate standards, messaging frameworks and reputational considerations
• Supporting stakeholder engagement activities, industry forums, community sessions and project events
• Preparing briefing notes, meeting materials and communication packs for leadership and stakeholder meetings
• Supporting proactive management of communication risks and stakeholder issues
• Working collaboratively across stakeholder engagement, project delivery and leadership teams
What you’ll bring
- Experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, corporate affairs or public relations within a complex stakeholder environment
• Exposure to major infrastructure, energy, government or public-facing projects
• Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences
• Strong ability to distil complex information into clear, strategic and audience-appropriate content
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability
• High attention to detail and strong quality assurance capability
• Ability to operate with sound judgement, professionalism and discretion in a high-profile environment
• Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related discipline
Highly regarded:
• Experience supporting communications within Victorian Government or major project environments
• Familiarity with stakeholder engagement frameworks such as IAP2
• Experience working within contested or high-profile infrastructure environments
• Exposure to corporate communications within large or multinational organisations
