Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Principal Property Officer to work within the Leasing, Tenure and Operational Servies within the Property Services Unit.


About the Role/s

This is a temporary opportunity for someone looking to utilise their significant portfolio assessment and tenure experience to assist us in facilitating various property transactions and amendments across the portfolio.

The Principal Property Officer will be expected to provide high level analysis, undertake due diligence, and engage with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate, develop and implement a program of works across the existing education portfolio to rationalise and mitigate risk associated with government property. This will include extensive stakeholder engagement on land management, review and implementation of infrastructure and property with an emphasis on departmental owned assets and ensuring rationalisation and amendments of existing systems, policies and projects.

Specifically, you will be required to consult and liaise with a range of stakeholders including internal business units and other internal stakeholders (e.g., legal services, procurement, schools and regions), other government departments, local government authorities, landowners and relevant interested parties with a view toward formalising necessary property agreements and tenure arrangements.

  • Lead the review and risk assessment of the existing portfolio, including development of a program of works and manage the implementation of the program while prioritising the services undertaken by Property Services.
  • Analyse potential risks, opportunities and strengths in portfolio tenure and develop system and process workflows to achieve consistency in decision making.
  • Provide timely, independent property and planning advice, developing strategies, identifying emerging issues and developing and implementing departmental plans which impact key stakeholders within and external to the department.
  • Adopt a project management approach to complex matters to achieve consolidated and effective outcomes.
  • Develop and sustain productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholder groups, including other Property Services’ teams of Strategic Advisory, Acquisition & Divestment, property owners, schools, legal services, town planning, procurement, regional infrastructure advisors and across government departments.

About you

  • Although not mandatory, qualifications or industry experience in site due diligence, property related legal experience and/or conveyancing skills, town planning principles, tenure conversion, property related policy and legislation will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in leading the delivery of high-quality property advice, including the development of appropriate service responses to meet the identified needs of stakeholders to ensure quality service delivery outcomes are achieved.
  • Strong research skills and well-developed written skills, including report and brief writing, and strong record keeping ability.
  • Awareness and understanding of relevant legislation and policy which impact upon a Queensland Government property portfolio.
  • Your willingness to stay connected to industry updates and networks, ability to be proactive and forward thinking, with a strong motivation to work towards organisational objectives will assist your success in this role.

The Benefits

  • $85.31 per hour + Super (PAYG Agency Contractor)
  • Contract up to June 2026
  • Brisbane, CBD
  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
