Davidson is partnering with a state government client that leads youth engagement and participation initiatives across Queensland. This team works at the centre of government to empower young people to have a genuine voice in decision‑making and to create meaningful, long‑term outcomes for communities across the state.


About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering Queensland Youth Week 2026, including managing the Community Event Grants program end‑to‑end.

As Principal Program Officer, you will provide strategic advice, oversee grants and program delivery, and work closely with young people, community organisations and stakeholders to deliver high‑impact engagement initiatives. Beyond Queensland Youth Week, the role contributes to several flagship youth programs and whole‑of‑government initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the end‑to‑end delivery of the Queensland Youth Week 2026 Community Event Grants program.
  • Providing high‑level strategic and program management advice to senior leaders.
  • Designing and delivering youth engagement programs and co‑design initiatives.
  • Managing grant processes, compliance, funding acquittals and stakeholder communications.
  • Preparing high‑quality briefings, correspondence, communications materials and speech notes.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with community organisations, young people and government stakeholders.
  • Supporting broader initiatives including youth leadership programs, youth parliament, advisory group recruitment and implementation of the Young Queenslanders Strategy.
  • Actively contributing to improved outcomes for First Nations young people through culturally capable and inclusive practice.


About You

You are an experienced program or policy professional with a strong interest in youth engagement and grants delivery. You bring a collaborative mindset, strong stakeholder skills and the ability to manage complex programs in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering end‑to‑end programs, including grants programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with an evidence‑based approach.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including young people.
  • Sound judgement, integrity and a strong commitment to public sector values.
  • Experience working on youth, community or engagement‑focused initiatives (highly regarded).

Mandatory Requirements

  • A valid Blue Card (working with children and young people).
  • Ability to travel within Queensland as required.


Benefits

  • $79.17 per hour + Super
