Davidson Technology are working with a large State Government Organisation to secure a highly experienced Principal OT Cyber Security Specialist for an initial 6-month contract.

About the Role

As the Principal OT Cyber Security Specialist, you’ll play a critical leadership role within the organisation’s Major Projects, providing expert technical guidance to safeguard the organisation’s Operational Technology and Industrial Control Systems environments. This position leads the identification, management, and remediation of OT cyber security threats and risks while overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of security tools, processes, and controls. With deep knowledge of emerging technologies and industry best practice, you will contribute to the evolution of organisation’s OT cyber security architecture, developing strategies, policies, and procedures that uplift the organisation’s security posture. You’ll manage and support OT incident response, collaborate closely with internal business groups, and supervise staff and contractors to ensure cyber security initiatives are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with standards, safety, and organisational objectives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll be an accomplished professional with extensive experience delivering cyber security leadership across complex operational technology environments, demonstrating strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to effectively engage staff, clients, contractors, and suppliers. You’ll work autonomously with a high degree of initiative, providing expert guidance on cyber security best practices to both technical and non-technical stakeholders while developing and implementing robust strategies, procedures, and systems that uplift organisational security maturity. With advanced capability in designing, maintaining, and enhancing secure OT system architectures, you’ll excel in evaluating and assuring the effectiveness of security controls against emerging threats and risks, supported by substantial knowledge of new and evolving cyber security technologies aligned to industry best practice. Holding deep expertise in IEC 62443 for control systems, a relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification, and over five years of cyber security experience, you’ll bring valuable insight from sectors such as rail, power, or transportation, with additional strengths in systems engineering, data networking, and RPEQ credentials. You’ll demonstrate a commitment to the organisation’s values and behaviours while contributing a high standard of professional excellence.

The Benefits

You will be offered a 6-month contract (possible extension) on an excellent hourly rate and the ability to negotiate a flexible working arrangement for the duration of the assignment.
