The Opportunity
This is an initial 12 month contract for a highly experienced Principal Technical Specialist to lead complex firewall replacement and upgrade work in a large enterprise environment. You will play a key technical role across Check Point, Palo Alto, F5, Cisco routing and switching, AlgoSec, and SolarWinds, helping strengthen critical network security capability while working with project teams, operations, vendors, and technical stakeholders.
About the Role
You will take ownership of technical delivery across firewall implementation, upgrade, optimisation, and transition activities.
- Lead end-to-end deployment, upgrade, and configuration of Check Point firewalls.
- Support Palo Alto Secure Web Gateway capability and broader firewall environments.
- Integrate firewall solutions with Cisco routing and switching for availability and connectivity.
- Support F5 LTM, GTM, and WAF technologies across enterprise environments.
- Use AlgoSec to support firewall rule base optimisation, compliance, and policy governance.
- Monitor performance through SolarWinds, troubleshoot issues, and provide third-level expertise.
About You
You are a senior hands-on firewall specialist who can lead technical outcomes without needing constant direction.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Check Point firewall build, replacement, upgrades, troubleshooting, and policy optimisation.
- Practical enterprise experience with Palo Alto firewall or Secure Web Gateway capability.
- Strong Cisco routing and switching knowledge, especially in firewall integration.
- Experience with F5 LTM, GTM, WAF, AlgoSec, SolarWinds, or similar enterprise tooling.
- Strong documentation skills across designs, implementation plans, change plans, rollback plans, testing, and configuration artefacts.
- Confident working with project teams, operational teams, vendors, and senior technical stakeholders.
