About the Company

Davidson is partnering with a state government client seeking a highly skilled Financial Management Specialist to support a strategic Finance Management Improvement Project within their Infrastructure Services Division.


About the Role

This transformation-focused initiative is designed to uplift financial management maturity across a large-scale infrastructure portfolio. With over $1.7 billion in annual capital works and a $40 billion asset base, the division is undergoing significant change to meet increasing demands and expectations.

As a Financial Management Specialist, you will play a key role in enhancing financial practices, frameworks, and reporting capabilities. This role is project-based and does not include responsibility for ongoing BAU financial operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of improved financial management frameworks, tools, and processes.
  • Preparing project documentation such as business cases, process maps, and performance reports.
  • Providing expert advice on budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement in financial systems and processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Engaging with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and support change management.
  • Facilitating workshops and capability uplift sessions.
  • Analysing financial data to support strategic decision-making and project performance tracking.
  • Developing dashboards and reports to communicate insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Advising senior executives on audit-related financial matters.


About You

Candidates are strongly encouraged to detail how their skills and experience meet the following criteria in their application:

  • Extensive experience in asset-heavy or infrastructure industries.
  • Proven financial management experience within project or transformation environments.
  • Working understanding of AASB standards for asset management.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems, controls, and reporting frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Proficiency in financial tools such as Excel, ERP systems, and Power BI.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to produce deliverables directly.

Desirable:

  • Experience in transformation or continuous improvement programs in low-maturity or high-growth environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience embedding improved financial practices and facilitating capability uplift.


The Benefits

  • $123.24 per hour + Super
  • Contract through until June 2026
  • Brisbane CBD location
