About the Company

Davidson is working with a state government client seeking a highly skilled Principal Finance Specialist – ADM to support a major Finance Management Improvement Project within a large and complex infrastructure environment.


About the Role

Reporting to the Project Manager of the Financial Management Improvement Project, this role plays a key part in driving enhanced financial management capability across the division. You will contribute to strategic transformation initiatives by delivering insights, improving financial processes, and acting as a subject matter expert in financial operations and governance. This position is project-focused and supports transformation initiatives rather than ongoing BAU financial operations.

Key responsibilities include:

Project Delivery

  • Support the development and implementation of improved financial management frameworks, tools, and processes.
  • Assist in preparing project artefacts including business cases, process mapping, and performance reporting.
  • Collaborate with consultants, SMEs, and business analysts to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.

Financial Expertise

  • Provide expert advice across budgeting, forecasting, cost control, capitalisation, and financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to uplift current financial processes and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial policies, regulations, and standards.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, validate findings, and support change initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops and training to uplift financial capability across the organisation.
  • Build strong relationships with senior executives, project managers, and a broad range of stakeholders.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse financial data to support decision-making and track project performance.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to communicate insights and progress.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior executives, including in response to audit findings.


About You

  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, ideally within large-scale infrastructure, government, or transformation programs.
  • Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and capitalisation processes.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex data and provide clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience supporting business transformation or improvement initiatives is highly regarded.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work across multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
