Principal Consultant | Technology Consulting, Financial Services

We’re looking for a Principal Consultant to join Davidson Technology Consulting in Sydney, with a focus on financial services.
This is a senior, client-facing role with two clear dimensions: leading quality consulting delivery and supporting the development of new client solutions.
You’ll work directly with clients across banking, insurance, wealth, superannuation and related regulated environments. You’ll help them navigate technology transformation, strengthen delivery and make practical decisions with greater confidence.
What you’ll do
You’ll lead and contribute to consulting engagements from problem definition through to delivery.
Depending on the client challenge, your work may include:
- leading technology transformation and project delivery engagements
- developing business cases, roadmaps, delivery plans and governance frameworks
- supporting large-scale transformation programmes across data migration, testing, delivery assurance and programme governance
- leading transformation design, business analysis, technology delivery, operating model change and implementation readiness
- producing clear, executive-ready recommendations, SteerCo materials and quality reviews
- working directly with executive sponsors, C-suite leaders and steering committees
- leading client governance forums, delivery reviews and stakeholder discussions
- identifying delivery risks and issues early, then providing practical recommendations
- guiding Davidson consultants and project team members to maintain quality and consistency
- shaping client solutions and contributing to proposals, statements of work, presentations and commercial discussions.
You’ll also help strengthen our relationships across Sydney’s financial services market. Strong delivery comes first. From there, you’ll identify where we can continue helping clients solve real technology and delivery challenges.
What you’ll bring
You’re an experienced consultant who can move comfortably between executive conversations and the detail required to get work delivered.
You’ll bring:
- 8–10+ years’ experience across consulting, technology delivery, transformation or professional services
- strong financial services experience, ideally across banking, insurance, wealth, superannuation or another regulated environment
- established relationships within Sydney’s financial services market
- experience delivering complex transformation, technology or consulting engagements
- confidence working directly with senior executives, sponsors and steering committees
- a track record of producing clear, practical and executive-ready consulting outputs
- experience contributing to proposals, solution development, statements of work or client presentations
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- a practical, outcome-focused approach and a clear commitment to quality.
You won’t need to have delivered every type of engagement listed above. What matters is your ability to understand a complex problem, bring structure to it and help clients move forward with confidence.
