Davidson Technology are working with a large State Government Department to secure an experienced Power BI Developer to support in the ongoing development, enhancement and maintenance of the Power BI reporting products for users.

About the Role

As the Power BI Developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing, enhancing, and maintaining data-driven reporting solutions that support a range of users across the Department. You will focus on designing and delivering fit-for-purpose data models and interactive Power BI visualisations, ensuring insights are accessible, accurate, and actionable. Working collaboratively with business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors, you’ll leverage your Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server Management Studio, and Azure DevOps expertise to build and optimise high-performing BI solutions. Your work will also encompasses maintaining and improving existing reporting products such as the Reporting Dashboard, implementing robust data quality and assurance processes, conducting testing and performance tuning, and producing comprehensive technical documentation. Through proactive collaboration and technical excellence, you’ll contribute to advancing the department’s business intelligence capabilities and data-informed decision-making.

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll be an experienced data professional with extensive expertise in designing, developing, and optimising interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that translate complex business needs into clear, actionable insights. You will possess a strong background in data modelling, data warehousing, and ETL design, deep technical proficiency across the Microsoft Azure development stack and SQL Server Management Studio. You’ll be adept at collaborating with stakeholders and cross-functional teams, effectively communicating visualisation options, ensuring solutions are both functional and user-centric. Known for your analytical mindset, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, you’ll maintain high standards of data quality through rigorous testing and performance optimisation. Proactive and self-motivated, you will contribute actively to team discussions, prioritise effectively, and deliver well-documented, high-performing BI solutions that drive informed decision-making.

The Benefits

You will be offered a 12-month contract (possible extension) on an excellent daily rate and the ability to negotiate a flexible working arrangement for the duration of the assignment.
