PMO Lead –
Utilities Transformation Program
An opportunity exists for an experienced
PMO Lead
to join a major utilities program focused on the upgrade and replacement of smart metering technology across a large electricity distribution network.
Working closely with the Program Manager, you will support the planning, governance, reporting and resourcing of a complex, multi-stream program. This role will suit someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and confident working in a fast-moving environment with limited hand-holding.
About the role
The PMO Lead will support the effective delivery of a large smart metering program, working across multiple projects, stakeholders and delivery streams.
Once the Program Director establishes the initial program plan, this role will take ownership of maintaining and coordinating it as priorities, dependencies, milestones and resourcing requirements continue to evolve.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong governance discipline, accurate reporting, excellent document control and the ability to proactively chase information across a complex program environment.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and coordinate the integrated program plan, ensuring milestones, dependencies, risks, issues and resourcing updates are accurately captured.
- Support program governance, including reporting cadence, governance forums, action tracking, decision logs and documentation control.
- Own and maintain program artefacts, folder structures and SharePoint governance to ensure information is accurate, accessible and well managed.
- Prepare high-quality reporting packs, dashboards, status updates and governance materials for senior stakeholders.
- Work closely with project managers, vendors, technical teams and operational stakeholders to gather updates, identify gaps and maintain delivery visibility.
About you
You will be an experienced PMO Lead or PMO Manager with strong experience supporting complex utilities programs.
You will have direct experience working across metering, smart metering, AMI or related electricity network environments, and understand the level of structure, governance and stakeholder coordination required to deliver in this space.
You will be confident working with limited direction, able to get into the detail, find information independently and keep reporting, governance and planning activities moving.
Key skills and experience
- Proven experience as a PMO Lead or PMO Manager within a complex program environment.
- Essential experience working within utilities, electricity networks, metering, smart metering, AMI or closely related infrastructure programs.
- Strong capability maintaining integrated project or program plans across multiple workstreams.
- Excellent reporting skills, including status reports, dashboards, governance packs and executive-level updates.
- Strong understanding of program governance, SharePoint/document control, risk and issue tracking, dependency management and stakeholder coordination.
